What is Sahaja Yoga Alibaug?
Sahaja Yoga Alibaug is the Sahaja Yoga Meditation Centre Chalmala and Shree Mataji’s Temple and Ashram at Thal-Chalmala, Alibaug. The place is closely connected with Shree Mataji Nirmala Devi’s visits and pujas in Alibaug from 1986 to 1991.
Who is Shree Mataji Nirmala Devi?
H.H. Shree Mataji Nirmala Devi is the founder of Sahaja Yoga, a method for spontaneous self-realization and awakening of the Kundalini. She began Her work of spreading self-realization after opening the Sahasrara on 5 May 1970 and dedicated Her life to the spiritual emancipation of humanity.
Why is Alibaug important in Sahaja Yoga?
The house at Thal-Chalmala was built for Shree Mataji. She first visited it after a public program near Pen in 1985, and later came to Alibaug every year from 1986 to 1991, where pujas were performed as part of the India tour.
Which pujas with Shree Mataji are connected with Alibaug?
Shree Mahadevi Puja on 21 December 1986, Shree Devi Puja on 13 December 1987, Shree Devi Puja on 30 December 1988, Puja on 17 December 1989, and Shree Lakshmi Puja on 29 December 1991.
Can I visit the Sahaja Yoga Meditation Centre in Alibaug?
Yes. Visitors are asked to contact the centre before coming, especially if they wish to attend collective meditation or visit Mother’s house. This helps the ashram confirm timing and arrangements.
When is collective meditation held?
Collective meditation is listed for Thursdays from 16:30 to 18:30. Please give notice before you would like to come.

Is staying at the temple or ashram available?
Staying at the temple or ashram should not be assumed. Please contact the centre before making travel plans. (During the rainy season no staying at the temple or ashram can be provided.)
What is the New Year Puja and Program?
The New Year Puja and Program is a collective Sahaj gathering at Shree Mataji’s Temple and Ashram in Alibaug, usually including Havan and New Year Puja. Current dates and registration details should be checked on the News, Programs & Photos page.
How do I register for a program or seminar?
When registration is open, use the registration button on the program page. Space is limited and places are arranged on a first-come, first-served basis, so advance registration is required. For late registration or questions, contact +91 (0) 89766 27851.
Who was Mr. Harishchandra Koli?
Mr. Harishchandra Koli was a Sahaja yogi who built the house in Alibaug for Shri Mataji. He received his self-realization in 1979 at Patkar Hall in Mumbai and devoted his life to Sahaja work. His memories are available on the site as English and Marathi PDFs.
What is "Anand Thandav - Dance of Joy"?
“Anand Thandav – Dance of Joy” is a picture associated with Alibaug and shown on the home page. Shree Mataji explained that it represents the moment in heaven when Shri Adi Shakti decided to come to earth as a Mother for humanity and the deities danced with joy.
What should I do before travelling to Alibaug?
